Rahul Gandhi Explores BMW F 450 GS Bike in Munich Visit

Rahul Gandhi tours BMW Welt in Munich, excited by TVS-co-developed F 450 GS bike.

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi visited BMW Welt and the BMW Plant in Munich, Germany, earlier this week, gaining firsthand insights into the company’s advanced automotive manufacturing processes. The tour included a wide array of BMW models, ranging from the high-performance M-series and electric bikes to Rolls-Royce offerings and vintage-inspired vehicles like the BMW Isetta.

During his visit, Rahul Gandhi closely examined the newly unveiled BMW F 450 GS, an adventure-tourer co-developed with Indian manufacturer TVS. He expressed enthusiasm about the motorcycle, stating, “Fantastic experience, and I was particularly excited to see that they have got a 450 cc bike. Good to see the Indian flag flying here.”

The BMW F 450 GS, showcased recently at EICMA 2025, is powered by a 450cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine delivering 48 PS of power and 43 Nm of torque. The bike is equipped with Quickshifter Pro for seamless gear changes, highlighting BMW and TVS’s collaborative focus on modern performance motorcycles.

Design-wise, the production-ready F 450 GS retains key elements from its concept, featuring a sculpted fuel tank, angular side fairings, and a pointed front profile with X-shaped DRLs inspired by the R 1300 GS. The bike rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, with advanced suspension comprising 43mm USD forks and a rear monoschock.

While the motorcycle weighs 175 kg — likely excluding fluids — it promises a lightweight yet robust adventure experience. Rahul Gandhi’s visit underscored the blend of heritage, innovation, and India’s contribution to BMW’s global motorcycle portfolio, reflecting the growing collaboration between Indian and international automotive industries.
