Raghunandan Rao Dares Revanth Reddy To Dissolve Telangana Assembly And Face Polls

BJP challenges Telangana CM over fresh elections demand.

Political tensions escalated in Telangana after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Medak Member of Parliament M Raghunandan Rao issued a direct challenge to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, urging him to dissolve the state Assembly and seek a fresh mandate from voters. The remarks come amid intensifying exchanges between the BJP and the ruling Congress government over governance and development issues in the state.

Raghunandan Rao stated that all eight BJP Members of Parliament from Telangana were prepared to resign if the Chief Minister agreed to dissolve the Assembly and call for elections. He said the BJP was confident of returning to power if fresh polls were held and challenged Revanth Reddy to demonstrate his political strength by facing the electorate directly rather than continuing in office under the current mandate.

The BJP leader also targeted the state government over issues affecting farmers, particularly paddy procurement delays. He alleged that procurement centres were struggling with unsold stock, while payments to farmers were being delayed. According to him, several welfare commitments made by the Congress government had not been fulfilled, leading to growing distress in rural areas.

Raghunandan Rao further warned the Congress leadership against targeting Union Minister G Kishan Reddy over procurement-related concerns. He said BJP workers would respond with protests if the ruling party continued its demonstrations, adding that political restraint should not be mistaken for weakness. His comments signaled an escalation in street-level political confrontation between the two parties.

Meanwhile, BJP national leader and Nizamabad MP D Arvind also criticised the Congress government, asserting that it had lost public trust. He praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the BJP was steadily expanding its political footprint across India. The exchange of statements has further intensified the rivalry between the Congress and BJP in Telangana, especially ahead of anticipated Hyderabad civic elections later this year.
