President Murmu Awards Mayurbhanj for Excellence in Tribal Development Programs

Mayurbhanj district was honored as the Best Performing District under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs’ transformative Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan. The prestigious award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu to District Collector Hemakanta Say during a grand ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Friday, October 17, 2025. This accolade highlights Mayurbhanj’s remarkable efforts in driving sustainable development and empowering tribal communities, setting a benchmark for others to follow.

The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, launched with the ambitious goal of fostering self-reliance in every tribal village, aims to integrate tribal communities into India’s broader developmental framework while ensuring that government schemes reach the grassroots level. The program emphasizes inclusive growth, focusing on the cultural, social, and economic upliftment of tribal areas. Collector Hemakanta Say expressed immense joy at the achievement, emphasizing the district’s comprehensive approach. “The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan operates across three key categories, engaging officials at every level to work closely with tribal communities. We’ve covered 1,363 tribal villages across 26 blocks, supported by 33 master trainers who provide block-level training to ensure impactful implementation,” he said. This structured effort has enabled the district to address local needs effectively while preserving the rich cultural heritage of its tribal populations.
