Prashant Kishor’s “Quit Politics” Video Resurfaces as JD(U) Triples His Prediction in Bihar Elections

Prashant Kishor’s prediction fails as JD(U) wins 84 seats in Bihar.

A resurfaced clip of Prashant Kishor promising to quit politics if Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) won more than 25 seats in the Bihar election is doing the rounds on social media after the party’s stellar performance in 2025. The viral video has reignited political chatter as the JD(U), part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), leads in 84 constituencies — more than three times Kishor’s prediction.

Kishor, known nationally as a political strategist-turned-activist, had earlier declared that JD(U)’s influence in Bihar had “peaked” and would decline sharply this year. He had stated that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s political career would end after 2025, claiming, “If JD(U) wins more than 25 seats, I will quit politics.” The comment, made during one of his campaign interactions, has now become a point of ridicule for his detractors as the JD(U) records one of its strongest comebacks in recent years.

The NDA has comfortably crossed the majority mark, leading in 208 of Bihar’s 243 assembly seats. The BJP is currently ahead in 94, while Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) follows closely with 84. This marks a remarkable turnaround from its 2020 tally of 43 seats, which itself had fallen sharply from the 71 seats secured in 2015.

Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor’s own political experiment failed to take off. His party, Jan Suraaj, has been unable to secure a lead in any constituency as of Friday afternoon. Despite a statewide campaign focused on key issues such as education, unemployment, and migration, Kishor’s movement failed to translate into electoral success. Political analysts believe that while his campaign may have influenced the discourse, it did not convert into votes.

Kishor, who once crafted winning strategies for parties across India, including for Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar, and Mamata Banerjee, has found his personal electoral debut far less triumphant. His remarks targeting Nitish Kumar and the NDA, meant to project confidence, have now backfired politically and symbolically, with many seeing the JD(U)’s resurgence as a referendum on his predictions. Questions now remain over whether Kishor will honor his words and actually “quit politics” as Bihar’s voters rewrite the state’s political narrative yet again.
