Prashant Kishor Meets Priyanka Gandhi, Three Years After Talks With Congress Collapsed

Prashant Kishor has met Priyanka Gandhi Vadra nearly three years after his failed talks with the Congress leadership.

Political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor recently held a meeting with senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, marking a notable interaction three years after his acrimonious fallout with the party in 2022. Sources from both sides downplayed the significance of the encounter, but it has sparked political speculation amid Kishor's ongoing criticism of the Congress and his recent electoral foray in Bihar.

The meeting comes less than a month after the Bihar Assembly elections, where Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party made its debut but failed to win any seats, drawing a blank despite contesting over 200 constituencies. During the campaign, Kishor had contested against the Mahagathbandhan alliance—which includes the Congress as a key partner—and the ruling NDA, while publicly dismissing issues like Rahul Gandhi's electoral roll revision campaign as irrelevant to Bihar voters.

Kishor's strained history with the Congress dates back to 2022, when intensive talks for him to join and help revive the party collapsed. He had presented a detailed strategy to the leadership, including the Gandhis, but declined an offer to participate in an Empowered Action Group, citing the need for deeper structural reforms and greater authority to implement changes.

Since the parting, Kishor has frequently critiqued the Congress leadership, positioning Jan Suraaj as an alternative focused on governance issues like education, employment, and migration in Bihar. The party's poor showing in the polls—garnering a modest vote share but no victories—has prompted internal reviews.

While details of the recent discussion with Priyanka Gandhi remain private, the rendezvous highlights shifting dynamics in opposition politics ahead of future national contests. It remains unclear if it signals any reconciliation or broader realignment.

As Kishor navigates his post-election phase with Jan Suraaj, this engagement underscores his continued relevance in political circles, even as he charts an independent path separate from established alliances.
