PM Shehbaz Says Pakistan Will Host US-Iran Peace Deal Signing Ceremony In Switzerland

Pakistan to host US-Iran peace deal ceremony in Switzerland.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday announced that Pakistan will host the signing ceremony of the peace agreement between the United States and Iran in Switzerland, describing it as a major diplomatic breakthrough aimed at ending months of conflict and restoring global stability. Addressing the National Assembly, the Prime Minister said the agreement represented “the success of peace and dialogue” rather than a deal between two countries alone. He said Pakistan had played an active role in facilitating discussions that led to what he described as a historic milestone for regional and global peace, particularly in resolving tensions that had disrupted energy markets and international stability.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that the peace process followed 107 days of conflict, which had escalated into a broader crisis affecting global energy supplies and international trade flows. He said sustained diplomatic engagement over the past three months and 16 days had ultimately led to an agreement that brought an immediate and permanent end to military hostilities, including related tensions in other regions such as Lebanon.

The Prime Minister further informed lawmakers that the signing ceremony of the agreement is scheduled to take place on June 19 in Geneva, Switzerland. He said Pakistan would host the event, calling it a moment of national pride and a reflection of the country’s growing role in international diplomacy. He also extended congratulations to the Pakistani public and the global community for what he termed a breakthrough achieved through patience and dialogue by both sides.

Shehbaz Sharif added that the leadership of the United States and Iran had demonstrated restraint and prudence throughout the negotiation process, enabling a settlement that he said the world could welcome. He credited sustained diplomatic efforts for producing what he called a “new dawn” in international relations following prolonged instability.

Reaffirming his government’s economic outlook, the Prime Minister said Pakistan would work to ensure that the benefits of global economic stability arising from the peace agreement would reach ordinary citizens. He said the administration was committed to translating international diplomatic gains into domestic economic relief and development, underscoring the broader impact of peace on trade, energy security, and economic growth.
