PM Modi To Address Four Election Rallies In Tribal-Dominated Bengal Areas Today
PM Modi to address four rallies in tribal-dominated Bengal regions ahead of Assembly elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address four election rallies in West Bengal on Sunday, all in tribal-dominated constituencies, as campaigning intensifies ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. The rallies come at a politically sensitive time, with parties trading sharp accusations over tribal welfare, women’s reservation, and governance issues.
According to officials from the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Modi is expected to focus his speeches on the alleged neglect of tribal communities by the ruling Trinamool Congress over the past 15 years. The BJP is aiming to consolidate support in tribal regions, which are seen as electorally significant in the current contest.
Another major theme expected in the Prime Minister’s address is the recent controversy surrounding alleged remarks about President Droupadi Murmu during her visit to the state. BJP leaders said the issue will be highlighted as part of a broader narrative on respect for tribal identity and representation.

The Prime Minister is also likely to criticise opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress, over their stance on the Women’s Reservation Bill, which recently failed to pass in Parliament. The BJP has accused opposition parties of obstructing the legislation, while rivals argue that the issue has been politically misrepresented.
Modi’s rally schedule begins in Barjora in Bankura district at 11 a.m., followed by Purulia at 12:45 p.m., Jhargram at 2:45 p.m., and finally Medinipur in West Midnapore district at 4:30 p.m. The series of back-to-back rallies reflects the BJP’s strategy to maximise outreach in tribal belts ahead of voting.
The campaign has already seen heightened political tension following Modi’s recent national address on the women’s reservation issue, which sparked strong reactions from both the ruling Trinamool Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Opposition parties have accused the Prime Minister of politicising the issue and using it to deflect attention from governance concerns.
Meanwhile, the BJP maintains that the Prime Minister’s message has exposed what it calls misinformation by opposition parties on key policy issues, including delimitation and women’s reservation. With polling approaching, tribal welfare, identity politics, and governance debates are expected to remain central themes in the final phase of campaigning in West Bengal.
