PM Modi Says Tamil Nadu Backs NDA; Stalin Says State Rejects BJP Betrayals
PM Modi claims Tamil Nadu supports NDA and rejects corrupt DMK, while CM Stalin accuses Centre of repeated betrayals.
Tamil Nadu’s political battleground is heating up as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Madurantakam on Friday, claiming that the state is aligning with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Modi stated that the people of Tamil Nadu were ready to bid farewell to the DMK government, praising the NDA’s governance and commitment to regional aspirations.
Modi tweeted, “Tamil Nadu is with NDA! Tamil Nadu has decided that it’s time to bid farewell to the corrupt DMK Government. The NDA’s governance record and commitment to regional aspirations are striking a chord with the people of the state.” His remarks underscore the BJP’s push to expand influence in southern India, traditionally dominated by regional parties.
Reacting sharply, Chief Minister MK Stalin accused the Centre of repeatedly betraying Tamil Nadu and ignoring its developmental and financial needs. He criticized delays in key education fund releases, infrastructure projects, disaster relief, and welfare schemes, and highlighted alleged interference by the Governor in state affairs.

Stalin’s social media posts raised pointed questions about the pending Rs 3,458 crore Samagra Shiksha fund, clarity on delimitation, NEET exemption, financial allocations for Tamil language promotion, and the slow progress of projects like Madurai AIIMS, Hosur airport, and Coimbatore and Madurai metro developments.
He accused the NDA-led Central government of neglecting Tamil Nadu’s priorities, asserting that the people of the state would reject the alliance at the polls. “Tamil Nadu will always deliver defeat to the BJP alliance, which continues to commit betrayals,” Stalin said, reiterating the DMK’s strong stance against what he described as persistent Central government oversight failures.
The political tension highlights a key contest for voter sentiment in Tamil Nadu, with Modi projecting development and governance achievements while Stalin emphasizes alleged unfulfilled promises and state neglect, setting the stage for a high-stakes electoral battle in the southern state.
