PM Modi Hails Tamil as India’s ‘Crowning Glory’ in Emotional Mann Ki Baat Address

PM Modi delivers heartfelt message in Tamil, urges nationwide language movement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered an emotional tribute to Tamil during his Sunday Mann Ki Baat broadcast, describing Tamil as one of the oldest, richest, and most beautiful languages on earth and unequivocally the pride of 140 crore Indians. In fluent Tamil, he proclaimed that Tamil culture stands supreme, Tamil language stands supreme, and Tamil itself is the crowning glory of India, a statement that immediately went viral across southern states and among Tamil diaspora worldwide.

Ahead of the fourth Kashi-Tamil Sangamam scheduled from December 2 in Varanasi, the Prime Minister issued a nationwide appeal for citizens from every state and union territory to participate in large numbers and begin learning Tamil. He portrayed the month-long festival as a sacred confluence of Kashi and Kanchi that deepens emotional unity and embodies the vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, stressing that knowing each other’s languages is the strongest foundation of national integration.

Turning to agricultural triumphs, Modi revealed that India has achieved an all-time record foodgrain production of 357 million tonnes, representing an extraordinary increase of 100 million tonnes in just ten years. He highlighted the Sweet Revolution, noting that honey production has more than doubled to over 1.5 lakh metric tonnes while exports have tripled, made possible through the distribution of 2.25 lakh bee boxes under the Khadi Village Industries Commission’s Honey Mission.

The address also celebrated rapid strides in indigenous defence production and drone technology, the rise of space start-ups, widespread adoption of chemical-free natural farming in southern states, emerging winter tourism destinations in Uttarakhand, and the historic hoisting of the Dharmadhwaja at the newly consecrated Ram Temple in Ayodhya, painting a comprehensive picture of a confident, self-reliant, and culturally vibrant India marching ahead.
