PM Modi, Donald Trump Hold 40-Minute Call On Trade, Energy And West Asia Situation
Trump and PM Modi discuss Hormuz security, energy deals, and strengthening India-US cooperation in 40-minute call.
US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a 40-minute phone conversation on Tuesday, marking their second call since the outbreak of conflict in West Asia. The discussion covered bilateral cooperation, developments in the region, and ongoing efforts to strengthen strategic ties between the two countries.
Sharing details of the call on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said the leaders reviewed “substantial progress” in cooperation across multiple sectors. He also noted that both sides stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure, highlighting its critical role in global energy and trade flows. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints, through which a significant share of global oil shipments passes.
Modi further stated that India and the United States remain committed to strengthening their “Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership” across all areas. The conversation comes at a time when both countries are closely coordinating on regional stability in West Asia and expanding cooperation in energy, defence, and trade.
