PM Modi Accuses Congress Of Aligning With Muslim League, Maoists
Prime Minister intensifies attack on Congress, alleging anti-national posture and ideological alignment with rivals.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress (INC), alleging that the party has transformed into a “Muslim League-Maoist Congress” and was attempting to defame the country at every available platform. Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister accused the opposition party of aligning with divisive and extremist forces for political gains.
Without naming specific incidents, Modi claimed that sections within the Congress were seeking to undermine India’s image both domestically and internationally. He asserted that the ruling government remains focused on development and national unity, while accusing the opposition of engaging in negative politics. The remarks come amid heightened political exchanges ahead of key electoral contests in several states.
The Prime Minister also reiterated his government’s commitment to what he described as inclusive growth and strong governance. He said that India’s global standing had improved in recent years and accused opposition leaders of attempting to “malign” that progress through public statements and political campaigns. Modi framed the criticism as part of a broader ideological divide between his party and the Congress.

The Congress has frequently accused the government of centralising power and stifling dissent, allegations that the ruling party has consistently rejected. Political rhetoric between the two major national parties has intensified in recent months, reflecting deepening polarisation in the country’s political landscape.
The exchange underscores the sharpening tone of national politics, with leaders trading strong words as they seek to consolidate their respective support bases. Analysts note that such rhetoric often plays to core constituencies, particularly during election cycles, but also raises concerns about the broader tenor of political discourse in the country.
