Pawan Kalyan Hails South Coast Railway Zone As Game-Changer For Andhra Pradesh

South Coast Railway Zone begins operations in Visakhapatnam, hailed as a major development milestone.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and state BJP President PVN Madhav have welcomed the operationalisation of the South Coast Railway Zone, calling it a significant milestone for improving connectivity and accelerating development in the state. The new railway zone, with its headquarters in Visakhapatnam, has been described by leaders as a long-awaited achievement for the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Pawan Kalyan took to social media platform X to express his appreciation, stating that the launch of the South Coast Railway Zone marks a major step towards enhanced connectivity, improved efficiency and faster regional growth. He noted that the zone, which becomes the 18th railway zone in India, is expected to strengthen rail infrastructure across Andhra Pradesh and support balanced development across all regions.

The Deputy Chief Minister also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for making what he described as a long-standing aspiration of the people a reality. He termed the development a proud moment for the state, highlighting its potential to improve transportation networks and boost economic activity.

PVN Madhav also described the operationalisation of the railway zone as the fulfilment of a decades-old demand, particularly from people in North Coastal Andhra. He said the movement for a separate railway zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters dates back to the 1980s and involved sustained efforts by political leaders, party workers, employee associations and civil groups through protests, campaigns and representations over the years.

He further noted that the South Coast Railway Zone was initially announced in 2019, and its commencement now represents the culmination of a long process. According to him, the new zone is expected to improve freight movement, logistics efficiency, industrial connectivity and passenger services, while also generating employment opportunities and boosting regional development.

Both leaders expressed gratitude to the central government and railway authorities, stating that the new zone will play a key role in strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s contribution to India’s overall growth story while enhancing infrastructure and economic prospects across the region.
