Owaisi Kicks Off ‘Seemanchal Nyay Yatra’ Ahead of Bihar Polls
Owaisi launches ‘Seemanchal Nyay Yatra’ ahead of Bihar elections to focus on regional development.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehad Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi is set to launch his party’s Bihar Assembly election campaign with the “Seemanchal Nyay Yatra” from September 24 to 27, targeting the Seemanchal region. The Hyderabad MP will lead road shows and corner meetings across various Assembly constituencies, aiming to unite residents for development and justice in the region, according to an AIMIM release.
Owaisi, a vocal advocate for addressing the socio-economic challenges in Seemanchal, has consistently highlighted its backwardness. He previously introduced a private member’s bill in the Lok Sabha, proposing the establishment of a ‘Seemanchal Region Development Council’ under Article 371 of the Constitution to tackle the region’s developmental deficits. The Yatra, starting in Kishanganj, underscores his commitment to securing justice and progress for Seemanchal’s residents.
In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, AIMIM contested 25 constituencies and secured five seats, all in Seemanchal, demonstrating its growing influence. For the 2025 elections, the party plans to contest more seats, with indications that prominent political leaders and social workers are eager to join AIMIM’s campaign.
The “Seemanchal Nyay Yatra” marks a strategic push to strengthen the party’s foothold and address regional grievances, setting the stage for a competitive electoral battle in Bihar.
