BJP slams Congress for Sonia’s Gaza article and Priyanka’s refusal to call Pahalgam victims Hindus.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unleashed a scathing assault on Congress on July 29, 2025, accusing the opposition of pandering to the Muslim vote bank over Sonia Gandhi’s article on Gaza and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s refusal to label Pahalgam terror attack victims as Hindus.
During a Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, Priyanka condemned the April 22 Pahalgam attack, reading out the names of 25 Indian victims and calling them “Bharatiya” (Indian) when treasury benches shouted “Hindu,” emphasizing they were “human beings, not pawns in a political game.”
BJP’s IT head Amit Malviya slammed Congress on X, stating, “Refusing to acknowledge the Pahalgam victims as Hindus shows why Congress is disconnected from India’s sentiments and has no political future.” He criticized Sonia’s op-ed in Dainik Jagran, which called Israel’s Gaza campaign a “genocide” and Modi’s silence a “cowardly betrayal,” as “naked appeasement” timed with the Sindoor debate. Malviya called it a “desperate attempt to pander to Muslims” while ignoring Hindu pain.
Sonia condemned Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attack on Israel but urged Modi to speak boldly against Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, aligning with India’s constitutional values. The BJP labeled Congress’ stance a “double standard,” escalating the political showdown.
