Nitin Nabin Officially Takes Over as BJP National Working President
Bihar minister Nitin Nabin appointed as BJP's national working president, likely to succeed JP Nadda.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially appointed Bihar Minister and five-term MLA Nitin Nabin as its national working president, ending months of speculation over the key leadership position. The official felicitation ceremony took place at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, attended by senior party leaders.
Nitin Nabin arrived in Delhi from Patna on Monday afternoon and was received at the Indira Gandhi International Airport by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other BJP leaders. His appointment was formally notified by the BJP parliamentary board on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
The 45-year-old leader, who comes from a strong Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) background, has previously served as a minister in the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar and represents the Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna. He has also been in charge of the party’s organisational activities in Chhattisgarh, earning praise for his effective leadership.

Nabin began his political career at the age of 26 when he was fielded by the BJP from Patna West following the demise of his father and veteran party leader, Navin Kishore Sinha. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a hardworking, ideologically grounded leader committed to party values and grassroots development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Nabin’s appointment, describing him as a young, industrious Karyakarta with impressive organisational experience. Modi highlighted his achievements as a minister and MLA, noting his dedication to fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Bihar.
Political analysts say Nitin Nabin’s elevation reflects a generational shift within the BJP, positioning him as a potential successor to current national president J.P. Nadda. Party leaders view his appointment as a strategic move to strengthen organisational outreach and prepare the party for future challenges at both state and national levels.
