Nitin Gadkari To Participate In Unnat Krishi Mahotsav Closing Event In MP

Nitin Gadkari will attend the closing session of Unnat Krishi Mahotsav in Raisen.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari is scheduled to attend the concluding session of the three-day “Unnat Krishi Mahotsav 2026” in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district on Monday, marking the final day of the agriculture-focused event that has drawn national attention.

The festival, which began on April 11, has been organised as a platform to promote modern agricultural practices, scientific farming methods, and technological innovation in the agriculture sector. The closing session is expected to highlight key outcomes from the three-day event, which brought together farmers, experts, and policymakers.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is hosting the event, said in a post on social media platform X that the festival has provided direction for a “new era in agriculture” by showcasing modern farming techniques and innovations. He added that Gadkari’s presence would further energise the concluding session and encourage farmers to adopt advanced agricultural practices.

The event was inaugurated earlier by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and other senior leaders. Over the past three days, the Mahotsav has featured exhibitions, training programmes, and live demonstrations aimed at improving farm productivity, increasing income, and introducing farmers to new market opportunities.

A key highlight of the initiative has been the unveiling of an agricultural roadmap for the districts of Raisen, Vidisha, Sehore, and Dewas. Developed with inputs from scientists of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the roadmap focuses on scientific crop selection based on soil quality, climate conditions, and water availability to promote more sustainable and profitable farming practices.

Officials involved in the programme said the strategy also emphasizes crop diversification, integrated farming systems, water conservation, and soil health improvement. These measures are intended to address long-standing concerns such as declining groundwater levels and land degradation in parts of Madhya Pradesh.

During the event, a mobile application named “Soil” was also launched to help farmers determine precise fertilizer and nutrient requirements based on soil analysis. The initiative is aimed at reducing input costs and improving efficiency in agricultural practices.

With the participation of senior Union ministers and state leadership, the Unnat Krishi Mahotsav has emerged as a significant policy outreach platform, with authorities urging farmers from across the region to attend the final day and benefit from the demonstrations and knowledge-sharing sessions.
