Nishant Kumar Begins Sadbhav Yatra to Highlight Bihar Government’s Development Work

Nishant Kumar begins Sadbhav Yatra across Bihar promoting development work.

Nishant Kumar on Sunday launched his statewide “Sadbhav Yatra” from West Champaran district, marking a significant step in his public outreach programme aimed at strengthening the organisational base of the Janata Dal (United). The tour is being seen as part of a broader effort to increase his visibility in Bihar’s political landscape.

The yatra began from West Champaran, a district symbolically important for the family, as former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has often launched his own political and administrative outreach campaigns from the same region. Nishant’s decision to start from here is being viewed as a continuation of that political tradition, with a focus on connecting developmental narratives to grassroots outreach.

As part of the programme, Nishant Kumar will travel across all districts of Bihar in phases. In the first phase, scheduled for May 3 and 4, he will cover areas in the Champaran region, followed by Vaishali on May 7 in the next phase. During the journey, he is expected to interact directly with local residents and party workers, while highlighting government schemes and development projects implemented in the state.

A specially designed campaign vehicle, referred to as the “Nishchay Rath,” has been prepared for the tour. It showcases various welfare and development initiatives associated with Nitish Kumar’s governance, including the Jeevika women empowerment programme, the bicycle scheme for school students, large-scale government job recruitment drives, police recruitment for women, and infrastructure projects such as the Bapu Tower and riverfront developments. These programmes are being projected as key achievements of the state government.

Senior leaders of the JD(U), including Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, have expressed support for the initiative, stating that party workers are enthusiastic about Nishant’s growing role. The programme is being seen as an attempt to energise the party’s grassroots organisation and strengthen its connection with voters, particularly youth and rural communities.

Leaders from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have also responded positively, describing the initiative as a continuation of Nitish Kumar’s outreach legacy. BJP State President Sanjay Saraogi and senior leader Ram Kripal Yadav both noted that the campaign could help strengthen organisational efforts and increase youth participation. The yatra is expected to continue across Bihar in the coming weeks as part of a structured statewide outreach drive.
