Nikam Slams Opposition’s Baseless Kasab Trial Claims
Nikam exposes opposition’s false Kasab claims!
Rajya Sabha MP and former special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam has accused opposition leaders of making unfounded claims about the trial of Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist of the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Speaking at a felicitation event in Jalgaon, Nikam, who secured Kasab’s conviction, emphasized that even Pakistan never alleged a mistrial or claimed Kasab was denied a fair defense. Kasab, responsible for 166 deaths during the three-day terror spree, was executed in 2012.
Nikam also debunked conspiracy theories propagated by some opposition figures, including a senior Congress leader, who falsely alleged that police officers Hemant Karkare, Vijay Salaskar, and Ashok Kamte were killed by an RSS-affiliated inspector, branding Nikam a traitor for allegedly concealing this.
Reflecting on his career, Nikam humorously noted his notoriety among jail inmates, joking that he’d win any election in a prison “constituency.” Recently nominated to the Rajya Sabha, Nikam vowed to drive progress in his native Jalgaon and north Maharashtra.
