Navjot Kaur Sidhu Requests Security from Punjab CM Over Shivalik Land Grab Allegations

Suspended Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu demands security from Punjab CM amid land scam allegations.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu, the suspended Congress leader and wife of former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu, has demanded security from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, citing threats to her safety. Her plea follows her public allegations against the state government for irregularities in land, liquor, and mining sectors, and her previous criticisms of the chief minister’s inaction.

Kaur Sidhu, suspended from the Congress over her controversial “Rs 500 crore for chief minister's chair” remark, posted on X that she feared for her safety and held CM Mann responsible if any harm came to her. She also questioned the CM’s silence over issues she raised in a recent meeting with Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, alleging his complicity in facilitating the liquor and mining mafia.

In the memorandum shared with the governor, Kaur Sidhu accused several “bigwigs” of grabbing land in the protected forest areas around the Shivalik hills, claiming the state government was attempting to regularize the encroachments. She also raised concerns about deteriorating law and order and administrative inaction, emphasizing the urgency of addressing these matters.

Adding to the controversy, she lashed out at former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, who had previously called her and her husband “unstable” and criticized her for making false claims. Kaur Sidhu countered Singh’s remarks on X, demanding explanations regarding unaddressed files related to Punjab’s development, including mining, liquor policy, tourism projects, and urban infrastructure initiatives.

The ongoing feud highlights persistent political turbulence in Punjab, with Kaur Sidhu positioning herself as a whistleblower against alleged misgovernance. Her accusations have reignited debates on corruption, law enforcement, and administrative transparency, placing CM Mann under renewed public scrutiny.

Authorities are yet to comment on her security request, while the political discourse in the state continues to be charged, reflecting deepening divides between prominent leaders and ongoing controversies over governance and development priorities in Punjab.
