Mumbai Police Arrest Actress Jiya Jacob In NESCO Concert Drug Case
Actress Jiya Jacob arrested in Mumbai NESCO drug case linked to student deaths and money trail investigation.
Actress Jiya Jacob has been arrested by Mumbai Police in connection with the NESCO concert drug case, where two MBA students died after allegedly consuming ecstasy pills. The arrest raises the total number of accused in the case to 11, as investigators continue to trace a widening money and drug supply network linked to the incident.
According to police officials from Vanrai police station, Jacob was detained from her residence in Ulhasnagar on Wednesday after evidence reportedly connected her to financial transactions involving other accused individuals. She had earlier been questioned in the case but was formally arrested after investigators uncovered what they describe as a money trail. She is expected to be produced before the Borivali court, where police may seek custody for further interrogation.
Investigators claim that Jacob received approximately ₹3 lakh through multiple transfers from accused persons, including Anand Patel, Vineet Gerelani, and Shubh Agarwal. Authorities have also reportedly frozen her bank account to examine the full extent of the transactions. Officials told Hindustan Times that digital payment records and WhatsApp chats are part of the evidence being reviewed to establish her involvement and role in the case.

Police further stated that Jacob was present at the music concert held at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon (East) on April 11 and had allegedly consumed drugs at the event. However, investigators have clarified that her exact role—whether as a consumer or part of a broader network—is still under examination as the probe continues.
The incident occurred during a concert attended by around 25 MBA students. A 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman from the group died the following day after allegedly consuming ecstasy pills, while several others fell ill. Forensic reports are still awaited to confirm the exact cause of death and establish a definitive link to the substances consumed.
In a related development, police recovered 933 ecstasy pills valued at approximately ₹15 lakh from Poladpur in Raigad district. The drugs are believed to have been dumped by main accused Ayush Sahitya while attempting to flee toward Goa. So far, investigators have recorded statements from over 40 individuals, including concert attendees and relatives of suspects. Police sources also indicated that a larger drug supplier network is under scrutiny, and further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.
