MK Stalin Rejects Amit Shah’s Claims on Hinduism, Calls Them Baseless and Divisive

Tamil Nadu CM demolishes Shah's claims with hard facts.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched a scathing rebuttal against Union Home Minister Amit Shah's accusations that the DMK government has been consistently disrespecting Hinduism and suppressing the religious sentiments of Hindus in the state, describing the remarks as baseless and motivated by an intent to sow division ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

Addressing a large public gathering in Dindigul district, Stalin questioned the credibility of Shah's statements by rhetorically asking if he was truly Amit Shah or an "exaggerator," while presenting concrete evidence of his government's proactive support for Hindu religious institutions, including the successful organization of kumbhabhishekam consecration ceremonies for more than 4,000 temples across Tamil Nadu over the past four years.

The Chief Minister detailed further achievements, such as the reclamation of 7,655 acres of encroached land valued at Rs 7,701 crore belonging to 997 Hindu temples, efforts that have earned widespread praise from genuine devotees and prominent spiritual leaders. He underscored his personal commitment by revealing that he reviews matters pertaining to the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department at the state secretariat nearly twice a week to ensure seamless execution of temple-related initiatives.

Stalin warned that Shah's inflammatory rhetoric appears strategically aimed at polarizing communities and bolstering propaganda for audiences in northern India, asserting that such divisive tactics have repeatedly failed in Tamil Nadu's inclusive political landscape and will not gain traction under the DMK's stewardship. He positioned the forthcoming 2026 polls as a decisive referendum on Tamil self-respect, pitting local DMK governance against potential remote control from New Delhi.

In a pointed critique of the opposition, Stalin accused AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami of actively working to install BJP rule in the state, cautioning voters against supporting the AIADMK alliance while highlighting central government actions like imposing NEET, withholding education funds, and pushing delimitation. During the event, he inaugurated 111 completed projects worth Rs 338 crore, laid foundation stones for 212 new initiatives valued at Rs 174 crore, and announced district-specific schemes including a Rs 7 crore drumstick processing centre and extensive tourism development in Kodaikanal.
