Mission Tamil Nadu 2026! Amit Shah To Visit Chennai For 2 Day Trip
Amit Shah’s Chennai Visit Stirs BJP-AIADMK Alliance Buzz
Just days after his meeting with AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) and ex-ministers S.P. Velumani and K.P. Munusamy in New Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a key BJP strategist, will arrive in Chennai on April 10 evening for a two-day visit.
He is set to hold critical meetings with senior BJP and RSS leaders. Sources also confirm that on April 11, he’ll meet RSS ideologue and Thuglak editor S. Gurumurthy. The visit has sparked talk of reviving the BJP-AIADMK alliance, which collapsed in September 2023.
The rift stemmed from Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai’s remarks against Dravidian legends C.N. Annadurai and J. Jayalalithaa, souring ties with AIADMK. The 2021 alliance had bolstered BJP with four seats and AIADMK with 66, but the fallout tanked both in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Senior RSS figures now urge BJP’s central brass to partner with a Dravidian force—AIADMK being the prime candidate, given DMK’s hostility—for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
EPS reportedly pressed Shah to replace Annamalai, who on April 4 said he’s not eyeing the state president post and will remain a loyal worker. With RSS pushing for an early alliance and AIADMK eyeing a reset, Shah’s Chennai trip—his second this year—could signal a thaw. As Tamil Nadu’s political chessboard heats up, all eyes are on whether Shah can stitch back a winning coalition.
