Mayawati Claims BSP Could Have Won More Seats in Bihar If Polls Were Fair
BSP Chief asserts unfair elections denied party additional victories.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati has asserted that her party could have captured significantly more seats in the recent Bihar Assembly elections had the voting process been conducted in a free and fair manner. This bold claim emerges against the backdrop of intense political scrutiny following the polls, where allegations of electoral malpractice have surfaced from multiple quarters. Mayawati's statement underscores a broader narrative of discontent among smaller parties, suggesting that systemic biases may have tilted the scales in favor of dominant alliances.
In the party's solitary triumph, candidate Satish Kumar Singh Yadav emerged victorious in the Ramgarh constituency, amassing 72,689 votes. He narrowly defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contender Ashok Kumar Singh by a slim margin of just 30 votes, underscoring the intensely competitive nature of the race. This razor-thin victory not only highlights the high stakes involved but also amplifies questions about the accuracy of vote counting in closely contested seats across the state.
Through a post on the social media platform X, Mayawati extended congratulations and profound gratitude to party members for their role in securing the win for Satish Kumar Singh Yadav. She emphasized the collective effort that led to this achievement despite formidable challenges, portraying the success as a testament to grassroots mobilization and resilience in the face of adversity.

Mayawati further alleged that the administration, in collusion with opposition parties, attempted to undermine the BSP candidate by demanding vote recounts as a pretext for interference. She detailed how these actions were part of a coordinated strategy to suppress BSP's influence, yet the steadfast commitment of party workers ultimately prevailed. This narrative of conspiracy, according to Mayawati, reflects deeper issues in electoral administration that warrant immediate attention and reform.
While urging BSP members to remain undeterred and to enhance their preparations for future contests, Mayawati reflected on the broader electoral landscape. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a resounding victory, claiming 202 out of 243 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan alliance managed only 35. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in response, pledged a thorough examination of the results and described the elections as inherently unfair from the outset, echoing similar sentiments that could fuel demands for independent investigations into the polling process.
