Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress Poll Marred by Rigging Allegations and ₹8 Crore Scam Claims

Congress accused of stealing 8.5 lakh votes.

The Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress election, touted as a democratic revival under Rahul Gandhi, has descended into chaos with allegations of massive vote rigging, overage voting, and an ₹8 crore scam. Yash Ghanghoria, son of ex-minister Lakhan Ghanghoria, was declared the winner with 313,730 votes on November 6, but rivals and even party insiders claim the results were pre-scripted, with over 8.5 lakh votes mysteriously rejected or “held” during counting.

BJP leader Vishwas Sarang launched a scathing attack, accusing Congress of pocketing ₹7.5 crore from 1.5 million youth registrations (₹50 each) and ₹1 crore in nomination fees, only to manipulate the outcome. “Rahul Gandhi cries ‘democracy in danger’ nationally, but runs the most undemocratic election in his own party,” Sarang said, citing overage voters like 44-year-old Santosh Singh and 36-year-old Anjum Khan casting ballots in a youth poll meant for those under 35.

Disgruntled candidates flooded Delhi to meet national in-charge Manish Sharma, demanding the voter list and a full probe. Abhishek Parmar (2nd) and Devendra Singh Dadu (3rd) filed formal complaints over tampered membership verification and vanished votes. In Rajgarh, candidate Shiv Dangi claimed he spent ₹20 lakh on 17,490 memberships—yet thousands were invalidated without reason, leaving him with just 4,500 votes.

Despite the central leadership halting the official announcement pending complaints, hoardings declaring Yash Ghanghoria as president sprang up overnight across districts. Rivals called it proof of a “fixed” election, allegedly backed by the Kamal Nath-Umang Singhar faction. A candidate told NDTV anonymously: “Everything was set—votes disappeared, complaints ignored, money collected, result delivered.”

With interviews of the top three held on November 9 and no final declaration yet, the scandal exposes deep rifts within Madhya Pradesh Congress. As internal rebellion grows and BJP sharpens its attack, the Youth Congress poll—meant to energize young leaders—has become a symbol of hypocrisy and manipulation.
