Kharge Accuses BJP-RSS of Fostering Social Injustice Against Marginalized Groups
Congress chief slams BJP’s feudal mindset for soaring caste violence.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge unleashed a blistering attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of nurturing a toxic "feudal mindset" that has fueled a shocking surge in violence against Dalits and Adivasis. Citing National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, Kharge revealed a chilling 46% spike in crimes against Dalits and a staggering 91% rise in attacks on Adivasis from 2013 to 2023, painting a grim picture of India's social landscape under BJP rule.
In a fiery post on X, Kharge minced no words, alleging that the BJP's policies embolden a casteist culture that manifests in brutal discrimination and bloodshed against marginalized communities. He spotlighted recent horrors, including the lynching of Dalit youth Hariom Valmiki in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli, a vicious assault on Chief Justice of India BR Gavai, and the heartbreaking suicide of Dalit IPS officer ADGP Y Puran Kumar in Haryana. "These are not stray incidents but a calculated assault on the Constitution, social justice, and equality," Kharge charged, framing the violence as a direct byproduct of the RSS-BJP’s regressive ideology.
Kharge’s broadside didn’t stop there. He accused the ruling party of weaponizing intimidation to silence Dalits, Adivasis, backward classes, and minorities, warning that such tactics erode the very foundations of India’s democracy. “India will bow to the Constitution, not extremist dogmas,” he declared, vowing to resist what he called a deliberate push to marginalize the vulnerable. In a pointed jab at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge lambasted the leader for “shutting his eyes” to the daily indignities faced by oppressed communities while being “engrossed in his own spectacles”—a thinly veiled dig at Modi’s public persona amid the crisis.

The Congress chief reserved particularly sharp words for the tragic suicide of ADGP Y Puran Kumar, a senior Dalit officer in Haryana, calling it a “horrific testament” to the systemic injustice festering under the BJP’s alleged “Manuwadi” framework—a term invoking caste hierarchies rooted in ancient texts. “The BJP’s system has become a curse for SC, ST, OBC, and weaker sections,” Kharge posted, expressing condolences to Kumar’s family while decrying the “inhumanity and insensitivity” that drove the officer to take his own life. The incident, he argued, underscores a broader pattern of institutional bias that stifles marginalized voices.
Kharge’s remarks come at a time when caste-based violence has sparked nationwide outrage, with activists and opposition leaders rallying against what they see as the BJP’s complicity in perpetuating social inequities. By invoking NCRB’s damning statistics and tying them to high-profile cases, Kharge aims to galvanize public sentiment and pressure the government to act. Yet, with the BJP dismissing such critiques as political posturing, the clash signals a deepening divide over India’s social justice trajectory.
