Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Denies SDPI Links, Reaffirms LDF's Anti-Communalism Stance
Vijayan reiterated the LDF's uncompromising secular position while dismissing communal association allegations at Malappuram.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday firmly rejected allegations linking the Left Democratic Front (LDF) with communal groups, asserting that the coalition stands unequivocally against all forms of communalism. Speaking in Malappuram, Vijayan reiterated the Left’s long-standing ideological position and dismissed claims of any association with the Social Democratic Party of India.
Addressing the controversy, Vijayan emphasised that the LDF has consistently opposed divisive politics and remains committed to secular principles. He described the allegations as baseless and politically motivated, aimed at undermining the credibility of the ruling front in the state. According to him, the Left’s governance model is rooted in inclusivity and social harmony.
The Chief Minister further highlighted that Kerala has historically upheld a strong tradition of communal coexistence, which the LDF government continues to protect. He stressed that any attempt to link the alliance with communal organisations is contrary to its core ideology and track record in governance.

Vijayan’s remarks come amid heightened political discourse in the state, where rival parties have been trading allegations ahead of future electoral contests. His statement reinforces the LDF’s positioning as a secular political force, even as debates over alliances and ideological alignments continue to shape Kerala’s political landscape.
