Kejriwal Alleges Ram Mandir Donation FIR Protects Bigger Players During Ayodhya Visit
Kejriwal questions Ram Mandir donation probe after Ayodhya visit.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday visited Ayodhya, where he offered prayers at the Hanumangarhi temple and criticised the investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donations meant for the Ram Temple. Alleging that the probe was selective, the former Delhi chief minister described the FIR registered in the case as a "sham" and claimed that while lower-level employees were being targeted, those allegedly responsible at higher levels were being protected. His remarks come amid an ongoing political row over the handling of the alleged donation scam.
Kejriwal was accompanied by AAP Rajya Sabha MP and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Sanjay Singh during the visit. After offering prayers, the AAP leader said he had sought divine intervention for strict action against those responsible for the alleged misuse of devotees' donations. "I prayed that whoever is guilty of this 'maha paap' should receive the strictest possible punishment from God," he said, referring to the alleged embezzlement linked to the Ram Temple.
Questioning the credibility of the ongoing investigation, Kejriwal alleged that the FIR filed in the case was merely an eyewash and failed to address the alleged involvement of more influential individuals. He claimed that the investigation had been limited to junior employees while those higher up in the chain of responsibility remained untouched. The AAP chief argued that the probe should be conducted impartially and extend to all those who may have played a role in the alleged financial irregularities.

The controversy over the alleged embezzlement of Ram Temple donations has become a major political issue in Uttar Pradesh, with opposition parties demanding greater transparency and accountability. The state government has maintained that action was initiated immediately after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted its findings. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has previously said that those found guilty had been arrested and assured that the government would separate "truth from falsehood" through the ongoing investigation.
The Ram Temple in Ayodhya holds immense religious significance for millions of devotees, making any allegations involving temple donations particularly sensitive. Political leaders across party lines have weighed in on the issue, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party defending the investigation while opposition parties continue to question its scope. The case has sparked a broader debate over the management of public donations and the need for accountability in religious institutions.
The investigation into the alleged embezzlement remains ongoing, with authorities continuing to examine the evidence collected by the SIT. As political exchanges intensify over the issue, the focus remains on whether the probe will identify all those responsible for the alleged irregularities. The outcome of the investigation is expected to remain under close public and political scrutiny in the coming weeks.
