Kavitha Set to Launch New Party in Three Months After BRS Exit
K. Kavitha announces new political party launch in three months, criticizes BRS over anti-reservation candidate.
Telangana Jagruthi President K. Kavitha on Friday announced her plan to launch a new political party within the next three months. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, she said she is waiting for an auspicious ‘mahuratam’ to formally unveil the party, signalling her continued active role in Telangana politics following her departure from the BRS last year.
Kavitha, daughter of BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), quit the BRS after being suspended for alleged anti-party activities. She has since been critical of the party’s decisions and policies, particularly regarding reservations for Backward Classes, which she claims the BRS is not addressing sincerely.
Targeting BRS candidates in municipal elections, Kavitha criticised the party for fielding B. Madhav Reddy, who had earlier filed a petition opposing 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes. She said she did not expect the BRS to support such candidates despite calls from Working President K. T. Rama Rao to vote for the party without scrutinising individual candidates.

Kavitha also highlighted internal support for her Telangana Jagruthi, noting that 16 BRS leaders in Sircilla approached her party for tickets to contest municipal elections. She further alleged that KTR and T. Harish Rao were campaigning selectively, focusing only on areas where her party had candidates, hinting at growing political competition in the region.
In addition, Kavitha criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for using abusive language against KCR, suggesting that such behaviour reflected political insecurity. She also questioned the handling of the phone-tapping investigation, comparing it to a “television serial” and urging the government to provide clarity to the public.
Kavitha further condemned Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar for dismissing petitions seeking the disqualification of eight BRS MLAs who joined Congress. She questioned the logic of allowing one of these MLAs to be appointed as party in charge for municipal elections in Nizamabad, signalling ongoing friction and scrutiny over legislative and electoral processes in the state.
