Kargil Heroes Honored: Nation Salutes Unyielding Courage

Leaders commemorate sacrifices on Kargil Vijay Diwas.

On Kargil Vijay Diwas, India paid solemn tributes to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1999 Kargil War, reclaiming strategic peaks in Ladakh after a grueling three-month battle against Pakistani infiltrators. Observed annually on July 26, the day marks the triumph of Operation Vijay, with over 500 Indian soldiers making the ultimate sacrifice.

In Chennai, Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin hailed the martyrs’ “unmatched courage” on X, vowing their sacrifices “will never be forgotten.”

In Drass, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya led a padyatra with hundreds of youths, joined by Minister Sanjay Seth and LAHDC Kargil Chairman Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon. Mandaviya urged the youth to embrace a “Nation First” spirit, declaring, “Being victorious is our nature.”

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma honored the soldiers’ bravery, noting the victory reaffirmed India’s resolve to protect its borders.

In Chandigarh, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann laid a wreath at the War Memorial, saluting the “unparalleled bravery” of the Kargil heroes.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid glowing tributes, emphasizing the soldiers’ “extraordinary courage” in treacherous terrain, stating, “India shall remain forever indebted.”
