Kangana Ranaut Calls Rahul Gandhi ‘Tapori’, Contrasts With Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s Grace

Kangana Ranaut criticises Rahul Gandhi’s conduct, praises Priyanka Gandhi’s etiquette.

BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that his behaviour in Parliament makes women uncomfortable and lacks decorum. Speaking to reporters, Ranaut contrasted Rahul Gandhi’s conduct with that of his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, praising her for her grace and etiquette.

Ranaut described Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour as “tapori”-like, saying, “Women feel very uncomfortable seeing him. He behaves in a very unruly manner, speaking aggressively and interrupting others. It is very uncomfortable the way he conducts himself. He should look at his sister -- her behaviour and etiquette are so graceful. But Rahul Gandhi is not the same.” Her comments come amid growing criticism of Rahul Gandhi’s alleged conduct in the Parliament complex.

The remarks follow an open letter signed by more than 200 former bureaucrats, diplomats, and retired military officers, expressing concern over Gandhi’s actions. The letter criticised protests held on Parliament premises, including demonstrations on the steps and informal gatherings, calling them inappropriate and against established norms. Signatories emphasised that Parliament is the highest constitutional forum in India and maintaining decorum is an essential part of democratic practice.

The group of former officials argued that the conduct in question violated directions issued by the Speaker and demanded a public apology from Rahul Gandhi. The development has sparked a political debate, with the ruling party targeting the Congress leader for failing to adhere to institutional norms, while some opposition members have defended the protests as part of democratic rights.

Separately, Ranaut also commented on an issue involving actor Sara Ali Khan, who was reportedly asked to submit an affidavit before offering prayers at Kedarnath and Badrinath. Ranaut said, “Everyone here is Sanatani. From birth, we are all part of Sanatan, which has no beginning and no end,” framing the discussion within a broader cultural and religious context.

The controversy highlights ongoing scrutiny over conduct and protocol within India’s Parliament, as well as the intersections of political commentary and cultural discourse in public debates.
