Kangana Ranaut Alleges Congress Is Seeking Political Benefit From Temple Donation Row

Kangana alleges Congress is politicising Ram Temple donation issue.

BJP MP and actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday accused the Congress of attempting to gain political advantage from the alleged Ram Temple donation theft issue. Ranaut, who represents Mandi in the Lok Sabha, said the party had opposed the construction of the Ram Temple for years and was now using the controversy for political purposes.

Her remarks came a day after Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu raised concerns over alleged irregularities linked to donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Sukhu said that any misuse of public contributions would amount not only to financial wrongdoing but also a violation of the faith of millions of devotees.

Ranaut said Lord Ram represents a deeply held belief for millions of Indians and described the construction of the temple as the result of years of struggle, sacrifice, and devotion. She claimed that the Indian National Congress had opposed the temple movement earlier and was now attempting to use the issue to target political opponents.

The BJP leader also alleged that the Himachal Pradesh government had previously attempted to use temple-related funds for government schemes and sought greater control over resources of religious institutions. She said the Bharatiya Janata Party has consistently supported the protection of religious and cultural traditions and does not view faith as a tool for electoral politics.

The controversy has intensified after the Uttar Pradesh Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested eight people in connection with the alleged embezzlement of cash offerings at the Ram Temple. The temple trust has also accepted the resignations of general secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra amid increased scrutiny.

The Ram Temple Trust later appointed Krishna Mohan as interim general secretary during a meeting. The issue has become a point of political debate, with opposition and ruling party leaders exchanging allegations while investigations into the alleged financial irregularities continue.
