#JustIn: Police Arrest Manesar Man and Girlfriend For Wife's Murder

Husband, girlfriend arrested for Gurugram woman's murder after affair.

A 25-year-old man allegedly shot dead his wife just three months after their wedding with the help of his girlfriend in Manesar, police said. The accused, identified as Ankit, and his 38-year-old girlfriend Rajni Devi allegedly planned the killing so they could continue their three-year relationship. Police said the victim was taken to Rajni’s rented room, where she was allegedly shot dead before the two accused fled.

The case came to light on May 22 after the victim’s mother filed a complaint at Manesar Police Station. She told police that her 22-year-old daughter had married Ankit, a resident of Manesar, in February and had gone missing on May 21. The family searched for her and contacted her in-laws but allegedly did not receive a satisfactory response, prompting the mother to approach police and raise suspicions about her daughter’s disappearance.

During the investigation, police recovered the woman’s body from a room in Manesar on May 22. Initial findings indicated that she had been shot dead, following which murder charges were added to the case and the investigation was intensified. Police later identified the victim’s husband and his girlfriend as the main suspects and began efforts to trace them after learning that they had allegedly fled following the killing.

Investigators said Ankit runs a tobacco shop in Manesar, while Rajni, a resident of Jhajjar district, worked at a beauty parlour in the same area. During questioning, police allegedly found that the two had been in a relationship for around three years. Investigators claimed they planned the murder in Rajni’s rented room and that Ankit later brought his wife there, where the two accused allegedly shot her dead.

Police further claimed that the weapon used in the killing had been purchased from Uttar Pradesh around two months before the crime. Investigators suspect that the firearm was bought specifically to carry out the murder. After the killing, Ankit and Rajni allegedly fled to Haridwar before crossing into Nepal, where they remained while police continued searching for them and gathering evidence related to the case.

According to police, the two accused returned to India on June 30 and were subsequently arrested by a Crime Branch team in Manesar. They were produced before a court and remanded to five days of police custody. Investigators are continuing to question them and are working to recover the alleged murder weapon and collect further evidence to establish the full sequence of events surrounding the killing.
