J P Nadda, Union Health Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president, held discussions with senior party leaders in Odisha on Friday, fueling speculation about the appointment of a new state unit president. The closed-door meeting took place in Bhubaneswar and included key figures such as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, state in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, and organisational secretary Manas Mohanty, according to party sources.
Nadda’s visit comes at a time when the Odisha BJP is gearing up for the election of its new state president, a process that has drawn keen interest within the party ranks. While no official announcement has been made, BJP Odisha vice-president Biranchi Narayan Tripathy assured that the selection would follow a transparent procedure. “The new state president will be revealed soon,” Tripathy told reporters.
During his visit, Nadda also met Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at Raj Bhavan, accompanied by Chief Minister Majhi. Before wrapping up his trip, the BJP leader offered prayers at the iconic Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri.
