JP Nadda Kicks off Tamil Nadu 2026! BJP Preparedness in Review

J P Nadda Rallies Tamil Nadu BJP for 2026 Assembly Election Push

BJP National President and Union Minister J P Nadda reviewed the Tamil Nadu unit’s preparedness for the 2026 Assembly election during a state core group meeting in Chennai on Saturday.

Nadda urged senior leaders to kickstart election preparations and strengthen organizational efforts to challenge the ruling DMK government, which has held power since 2021 under Chief Minister M K Stalin.

The meeting, chaired by Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagenthiran, included key figures like national co-incharge P Sudhakar Reddy, H Raja, Mahila Morcha president Vanathi Srinivasan, and former state presidents Pon Radhakrishnan and Tamilisai Soundararajan. Vinoj P Selvam, a senior party functionary, said Nagenthiran vowed to oust the DMK and maximize BJP’s seats in the 234-member Assembly.

The BJP, allied with AIADMK under Edappadi K Palaniswami’s leadership, aims to capitalize on their renewed partnership, announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on April 11, 2025, after a 2023 split.

Nadda, also the Union Minister for Health, Chemicals, and Fertilisers, is in Chennai to attend the sixth International Saiva Siddhanta Conference at SRM Institute, hosted by Dharmapuram Adheenam. SRM founder chancellor Paarivendhar thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his blessings for the event, emphasizing its role in preserving Bharat’s cultural heritage.

The BJP, which won no seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu, faces an uphill battle against the DMK’s dominance, which secured 133 seats in 2021.

Nadda’s visit signals an early push to galvanize the cadre for a competitive 2026 showdown.
