Jailed Imran Khan May Have Been Offered a Way Out, Son Kasim Hints
Kasim Khan wants his father to accept a government deal.
Imran Khan’s son Kasim Khan has suggested that the jailed former Pakistan prime minister may have been offered a deal by the government that could help secure his release, although there is no independent confirmation that such an offer has been made. Speaking in a recent interview, Kasim said he would personally want his father to accept any agreement that could bring him out of prison. He also acknowledged that he does not have direct knowledge of the situation because he has not spoken to his father in more than seven months.
Kasim said he finds it difficult to imagine when he might see his father again and expressed a willingness to support any arrangement that could secure his freedom. “From a selfish perspective, I would love him to take that deal,” he said, while stressing that his comments reflected his personal view rather than knowledge of negotiations. Pakistan’s information minister Attaullah Tarar had not immediately responded to a request for comment on whether authorities had offered Khan any such agreement, according to the report.
At the same time, Kasim said he did not expect his father to readily accept a deal because of the wider political situation surrounding his imprisonment. He referred to other political prisoners, including members of their own family, and said this could make it difficult for Khan to agree to an arrangement focused only on his release. Kasim also said the Supreme Court had ordered that the family should be able to communicate with Khan, but alleged that several such directions had not been followed.

Khan has remained in custody since 2023 and is currently held at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi while serving sentences linked to corruption and related cases. A 14-year sentence in the Al-Qadir Trust case remains a central part of his imprisonment, while the status of other convictions has changed through appeals and court proceedings. Khan has denied wrongdoing in the cases, and his party and supporters have repeatedly argued that the legal action against him is politically motivated.
The issue comes amid continued tensions between Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the government. PTI had planned a nationwide protest seeking Khan’s release, while several members of his family have also faced detention or legal action in recent weeks. Khan’s sisters were detained ahead of the planned protest, with authorities citing public-order concerns, while PTI and Khan’s supporters have continued to call for his release.
Questions over Khan’s prison conditions and access to family and medical care have also remained part of the dispute. In September, the Islamabad High Court directed Adiala Jail authorities not to keep Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement and ordered that family meetings, reading material and medical facilities be provided under prison rules. Against this backdrop, Kasim’s comments have renewed attention on the possibility of political negotiations, although whether any government offer to Khan actually exists remains unclear.
