Iran Agrees To Invite IAEA Inspectors For Nuclear Sites, Says JD Vance
JD Vance says Iran has agreed to allow IAEA inspectors access for nuclear oversight.
US Vice President JD Vance has said that Iran has agreed to allow inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to carry out nuclear inspections, describing the latest round of negotiations with Tehran as constructive and progressing.
Vance said Iran had made “a lot of good progress” in discussions related to its nuclear programme and confirmed that talks between both sides had continued late into the night, with negotiators working past 1 a.m. He added that technical-level teams would continue discussions even as senior officials returned to the United States.
According to Vance, the agreement to permit IAEA inspectors marks a key development in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at increasing transparency around Iran’s nuclear activities. He said further engagement with inspectors could begin imminently as part of the evolving framework of cooperation between the parties.

The US Vice President also said that discussions had extended beyond nuclear issues to broader regional security concerns, including maritime stability in the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that mechanisms had been established to ensure the strategic waterway remains open, highlighting its importance for global energy and trade flows.
Vance further commented on tensions involving Hezbollah and Israel, saying the United States is seeking to prevent escalation and has put in place a deconfliction mechanism in Lebanon. He emphasised that Washington remains in close coordination with Israeli officials while aiming to respect regional sovereignty and reduce the risk of wider conflict.
He also addressed the issue of frozen Iranian assets, suggesting that any eventual release would benefit ordinary Iranian citizens. The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts involving the United States and Iran, as well as broader attempts to stabilise security conditions in the Middle East following recent regional tensions.
