India Will Never Bow To Terror: PM Modi On Pahalgam Attack Anniversary

On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the 26 victims and reiterated India’s uncompromising stance against terrorism, stating that the country will never bow to terror in any form. His message came as the nation marked one year since the deadly assault that targeted tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baisaran Valley.
In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister expressed condolences to the bereaved families and said the victims would never be forgotten. He подчеркed that India stands united in grief and determination, adding that terrorist designs will never succeed against the resolve of the nation. The attack, which took place on April 22, 2025, remains one of the most shocking incidents of civilian-targeted violence in recent years.
The Pahalgam attack saw 26 people killed after terrorists opened fire on tourists in the scenic valley, reportedly identifying victims based on religion. The incident triggered widespread outrage across the country and led to intensified security operations in the region. In the aftermath, the Indian Army launched extensive counter-terror measures to track those responsible.

As part of the response, the armed forces carried out sustained search operations in difficult terrain under what was later referred to as Operation Mahadev. Officials stated that the operation involved extensive combing of over 300 square kilometres of mountainous region over several weeks, ultimately leading to the neutralisation of the attackers involved in the massacre.
On the eve of the anniversary, the Indian Army also issued a strong statement reaffirming its commitment to justice, warning that any breach of national security or acts against humanity would receive a decisive response. The force reiterated that “India stands united,” underscoring continued vigilance against terror threats.
The anniversary comes amid renewed reflection on the broader security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where counter-terror operations have remained ongoing since the attack. The government and security forces have repeatedly emphasized a policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism while maintaining strategic restraint in their responses.
