IIM Bangalore's Case Competition Offers Rs 5 Lakh Prize, Deadline Today

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore), through its Centre for Digital Public Goods, has announced the National Student Case Competition 2026, inviting undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognised colleges and universities across India. Supported by Perfios - Anumati Account Aggregator, the competition will challenge students to examine real-world issues connected to India's Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and develop practical solutions.

The competition offers a total prize pool of ₹5 lakh and provides participants with an opportunity to present their ideas to practitioners, policymakers and academics. Organisers are encouraging students to approach the case challenges from multiple perspectives and develop solutions that can address practical issues within India's expanding digital public infrastructure ecosystem.

Students currently enrolled in bachelor's or master's programmes at recognised colleges and universities in India are eligible to participate, regardless of their academic discipline. The organisers have particularly encouraged interdisciplinary teams, with students from areas such as engineering, management, public policy, law, economics, design and social sciences able to bring different perspectives to the challenges.

Each participating team must consist of five students who are enrolled in full-time or part-time programmes at their respective institutions. Teams are encouraged to promote diversity by including students from different academic years and programmes, where applicable, as well as maintaining gender balance. There is no restriction on the number of teams or submissions that can come from a particular college or university.

The competition opened for submissions on August 14, with the deadline set for September 7 at 6 p.m. IST. Shortlisted teams are scheduled to be announced by September 15, while the national finals are set to take place on September 30 at IIM Bangalore. The competition therefore gives students a limited window to submit their solutions and qualify for the final stage.

With the deadline approaching, eligible students interested in technology, management, public policy and India's digital ecosystem can use the competition as an opportunity to gain experience in solving real-world problems. Beyond the ₹5 lakh prize pool, the event offers participants exposure to experts and decision-makers working in the Digital Public Infrastructure space and a platform to demonstrate their analytical and problem-solving abilities.
