‘Hunt Down Every Culprit’: Amit Shah Orders Crackdown After Deadly Red Fort Car Blast
Amit Shah orders agencies to hunt down all involved after a deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort kills 13.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday issued strict orders to security agencies to track down all those involved in the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, which claimed 13 lives on Monday evening. Chairing his second high-level meeting in less than 24 hours, Shah said that no one linked to the incident will escape accountability and promised strong punitive action. “Everyone involved in this act will face the full wrath of our agencies,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The explosion occurred around a red light near the Lal Quila Metro Station gate and involved a Hyundai i20 sedan. The cause of the blast remains unclear, but initial reports suggest a possible terror link. Investigators from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have now taken over the probe, examining forensic evidence, CCTV footage, and vehicle registration records to determine whether explosives were planted in the car or triggered externally.
Following the explosion, multiple intelligence and counterterrorism units began coordinating efforts across states. Late Monday night, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted raids in Pulwama district and detained six individuals, including three family members of Dr Umar Un Nabi—a local physician who has reportedly been missing since the Faridabad terror module was exposed. Investigators believe Dr Umar is a key link, as the car used in the Red Fort explosion was allegedly purchased by him.

Officials confirmed that Dr Umar Un Nabi had longstanding connections with two Kashmiri doctors previously arrested in the Faridabad explosives case, where nearly 2,900 kilograms of highly volatile materials were seized in August. The NIA is now working to determine whether both incidents are part of a larger terror network operating between Delhi, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir. Early inputs suggest that sleeper cells linked to Pakistan-based terror outfits could be involved.
Shah’s directive has put all central and state agencies on high alert. Senior Delhi Police and NIA officials have set up joint control rooms to synchronize investigations. Meanwhile, security has been intensified across key government installations and metro stations in the national capital. “We will not rest until every person responsible for this cowardly attack is brought to justice,” a senior Home Ministry source said, reaffirming India’s zero-tolerance stance on terror-related operations.
