Fuel Prices Eased: Gujarat BJP Applauds Centre’s Rs 10 Duty Cut
Gujarat leaders welcome PM Modi’s Rs 10 fuel duty cut.
Gujarat BJP leaders have welcomed the Centre’s decision to slash excise duties on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per litre, calling it a significant relief measure for consumers amid global energy volatility. The reduction was announced by the Union government on Friday to ease the impact of rising crude oil prices.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, saying the move demonstrates his “sensitivity towards the people of the country” and prioritizes citizen welfare during a period of international uncertainty. “The Central Government has made a significant reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel, reflecting Modi’s unwavering commitment to protecting every Indian from the situation of global instability,” Patel added.
The Chief Minister also thanked Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for promptly implementing the decision, emphasizing that it will provide immediate relief to households and businesses affected by the surge in global oil prices. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi echoed the sentiment, describing the cut as a “significant measure to cushion the common people from the impact of rising prices.”

Officials explained that the duty reduction lowers excise on petrol from Rs 13 to Rs 3 per litre and removes it entirely on diesel. The move is part of a broader policy response, which includes adjustments to export duties on petroleum products to ensure domestic fuel availability.
The reduction comes amid heightened international oil market volatility, including disruptions in key transit routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, which have contributed to soaring crude prices. The decision is expected to mitigate inflationary pressure and provide financial relief to millions of Indian households.
Patel and Sanghavi emphasized that Prime Minister Modi’s decisive leadership during global crises has consistently provided stability, security, and confidence to the country, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding citizens against external economic shocks.
