Fuel Duty Cut Brings Relief: Rajasthan CM Applauds Centre for Supporting Families

Rajasthan CM praises Centre’s fuel duty reduction, calling it a protective measure for citizens amid global price volatility.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Friday praised the Centre’s decision to sharply reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, describing the move as a significant relief measure for citizens amid global uncertainties. He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, calling it a “protective shield” for the country during challenging times.

In a post on X, CM Sharma welcomed the reduction of central excise duty on petrol from Rs 13 to Rs 3 per litre and on diesel from Rs 10 to zero. He termed the decision “highly commendable” and emphasized its potential to strengthen the economy and provide relief to millions of families across India.

“This sensitive decision will provide economic strength to millions of families across the country and shield them from the uncertainties of global fluctuations,” Sharma said, highlighting the government’s proactive approach to cushioning citizens from rising fuel costs.

Amid ongoing concerns about fuel supply and price volatility, the Chief Minister urged people to remain calm and avoid spreading misinformation. “I appeal to all citizens to stay away from rumours and come together to contribute to the progress of the state and the nation,” he stated.

The excise duty cut comes at a time of significant global developments affecting oil markets. India’s crude basket is hovering near Rs 149 per barrel, driven by escalating tensions in West Asia, including the Iran-Israel-US conflict. Rising global crude prices have pushed input costs higher for oil marketing companies, raising domestic fuel prices and creating pressure on consumers.

By reducing excise duty, the Centre aims to provide immediate relief to consumers, ease inflationary pressures, and stabilize domestic fuel markets. Analysts say the move underscores the government’s commitment to balancing global economic challenges with citizen welfare, reflecting decisive governance in uncertain times.
