Former CM Warns Karnataka Govt: RSS Ban Won’t Stand, Funds Mismanaged

Bommai slams RSS ban, calls it unconstitutional diversion.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Haveri MP Basavaraj Bommai accused the Congress government of plunging the state into a severe financial crisis and using baseless attacks on BJP MPs as a smokescreen. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Saturday, Bommai claimed the administration is broke, unable to manage funds, and deliberately stoking controversies to distract from governance failures.

Bommai tore into the government’s order restricting RSS activities, calling it a blatant violation of the Constitution. “This is a free country—freedom of speech, individual liberty, and religious expression are fundamental rights,” he declared. “The ban will collapse in any court. The RSS has conducted processions for decades without incident. The government itself is provoking unrest by interfering in personal beliefs.”

He welcomed the court’s decision allowing the November 2 RSS procession with precautionary directives, stating that every organization deserves equal opportunity to hold events. “Processions happen everywhere—only the government’s confused order created chaos,” Bommai said, accusing ministers of hypocrisy for objecting to lathis while ignoring decades of peaceful RSS drills.

The senior BJP leader linked the political storm to fiscal desperation. “Heavy rains have devastated crops and homes, but instead of relief, they’re manufacturing controversies,” he alleged. Bommai claimed the state received ample Central funds during COVID, far exceeding the UPA era’s unfulfilled ₹5,000 crore railway promise. “Under BJP rule, Karnataka got more every year. Now they blame MPs to hide their own incompetence,” he charged.

With the Congress government under fire for delayed salaries, stalled projects, and mounting debt, Bommai’s broadside signals an escalating opposition offensive ahead of local body polls, framing the RSS row as a desperate diversion from a crumbling treasury and administrative paralysis.
