Fadnavis Orders High-Level Probe into ₹1,804-Crore Land Scam Linked to Ajit Pawar’s Son

Maharashtra land scam exposes massive concessions and violations.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has swiftly launched a high-level probe into allegations of a land scam directly tied to Deputy CM Ajit Pawar's son, Parth Pawar, sending shockwaves through the state's political corridors. The controversy erupts around Amedia Holdings LLP, fully owned by Parth, which allegedly acquired prime Pune property valued at a staggering ₹1,804 crore for just ₹300 crore—fueling accusations of massive undue favors and backdoor deals within the ruling coalition government that prides itself on clean governance.

The deal's glaring irregularities are impossible to ignore: merely two days post-transaction, authorities issued a stamp duty waiver that reduced the obligation to an absurd ₹500 on a ₹300 crore deal, defying all norms of financial scrutiny. Compounding the scandal, the sprawling 40-acre plot falls under the protected 'Watan' category reserved exclusively for the Mahar community as per the Bombay Inferior Village Watans Abolition Act, 1958, which strictly prohibits sales without explicit government permission—prompting widespread suspicions of deliberate legal violations and elite influence-peddling.

Opposition leaders are unleashing unrelenting fury, with Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Ambadas Danve sarcastically highlighting Amedia's meager ₹1 lakh capital base and questioning its lightning-fast approvals to develop an IT park and data center in ultra-premium Koregaon Park, all wrapped up in just 27 days despite the firm's complete lack of prior experience. "Invoking the revered names of Phule, Shahu, and Ambedkar while shamelessly pocketing Mahar Watan land—this is Ajit Dada's twisted version of 'progressive' Maharashtra," he thundered, amplifying calls for accountability.

Congress heavyweight Vijay Wadettiwar ramped up the pressure by demanding immediate criminal proceedings against the involved parties and the swift return of the land to its rightful original owners, while fiery social activist Anjali Damania escalated the attack by labeling the entire episode a classic "office of profit" violation, unequivocally calling for Ajit Pawar's resignation from his powerful deputy CM post to uphold democratic integrity.

Fadnavis, standing firm amid the storm, reiterated his government's zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, assuring "strict and impartial action" once the ongoing inquiry from the Revenue and Land Records departments yields comprehensive findings. "The prima facie issues raised are undeniably serious; our coalition is committed to utmost transparency in every dealing," he emphasized, even as NCP state president Sunil Tatkare adopted a cautious silence, promising comments only after gathering full details—leaving Maharashtra's political landscape simmering with tension and uncertainty.
