Fadnavis Calls Rahul Gandhi a ‘Serial Liar’

Maharashtra CM rejects Rahul Gandhi’s vote theft allegations.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, branding him a “serial liar” for alleging “vote theft” by the BJP in multiple states. Speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Monday, Fadnavis dismissed Gandhi’s claims as baseless, accusing opposition leaders of spinning falsehoods to console themselves after electoral defeats.

“Rahul Gandhi’s lies are relentless. It’s painful to see some Maharashtra leaders suddenly believe he’s speaking the truth,” Fadnavis said, responding to Gandhi’s accusations that the BJP, in collusion with the Election Commission, stole votes in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Haryana, and is attempting the same in Bihar ahead of its assembly polls. “A fort built on lies crashes. To win votes, you must earn people’s trust, not spread false narratives,” he added.

The controversy has gained traction, with Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) urging workers to scrutinize electoral rolls for bogus voters. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray also weighed in, noting he raised similar concerns in 2016 and calling for an Election Commission probe, especially after BJP’s Anurag Thakur echoed voter list fraud allegations. Posts on X reflect polarized sentiments, with some backing Gandhi’s claims and others labeling them as opposition desperation.

Fadnavis, addressing the issue on Sunday, criticized opposition leaders for using “vote theft” as an excuse to avoid introspection after losses. “These allegations are meant to soothe their workers, not address real issues,” he said. As the war of words escalates, the BJP remains defiant, with Fadnavis asserting that the opposition’s tactics will not sway public trust. With Bihar’s elections looming, the debate over electoral integrity is set to intensify, putting pressure on the Election Commission to respond.
