EPS Criticises Sengottaiyan at Gobichettipalayam Rally, Calls Him “Selfish Betrayer”

Palaniswami unleashes blistering attack on expelled leader in his own stronghold.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami turned Gobichettipalayam into a battleground on Sunday, launching a scathing frontal assault on expelled senior leader K A Sengottaiyan, branding him a “selfish betrayer” who owed his entire political identity to the party he has now abandoned for actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

Addressing a mammoth rally in the heart of Sengottaiyan’s home turf, the former Chief Minister declared that the nine-time MLA’s resignation and defection would prove futile, confidently predicting that AIADMK would retain the Gobichettipalayam seat and celebrate its first victory procession of the 2026 Assembly polls right there. The massive turnout, he claimed, had already demolished the expelled leader’s illusions of invincibility.

Palaniswami ridiculed Sengottaiyan’s selective loyalty, recalling how the veteran once boycotted the Athikadavu-Avinashi project event because photos of MGR and Jayalalithaa were missing from the backdrop, yet later attended DMK government functions featuring only Stalin and Karunanidhi while skipping AIADMK programmes. “For two to three years he worked against the party from within,” EPS charged, adding that divine justice awaited those who stabbed the organisation in the back.

The AIADMK chief sarcastically extended “Engirunthalum Vazhga” to his former colleague, questioning whose portraits now inspired Sengottaiyan and mocking his sudden alliance with Vijay after decades of enjoying power and position under the two-leaves symbol. He asserted that the party had continued to accord respect despite repeated provocations, including demands to readmit other expelled leaders, until Sengottaiyan’s actions became intolerable.

Reaffirming his own unwavering loyalty as a lifelong party worker, Palaniswami vowed to elevate Gobichettipalayam into Tamil Nadu’s number-one constituency once AIADMK returns to power in 2026, turning the expelled leader’s stronghold into a permanent symbol of the party’s resilience and ultimate triumph.
