Dubai International Airport Suspends All Flights Over Regional Security Fears

Dubai halts airport operations, citing safety concerns amid escalating Iran-linked regional tensions.

Flight operations at Dubai International Airport — the world’s busiest international aviation hub — have been suspended indefinitely following a wave of Iranian missile strikes across Gulf Arab states on Saturday. The shutdown was confirmed by Dubai Airports, which cited passenger safety amid escalating regional hostilities.

Authorities said the suspension applies to both Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). In an official advisory, Dubai Airports urged passengers not to travel to either airport and to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight updates. The move comes as airspace risks across the Gulf sharply increase due to the unfolding security situation.

The closure of Dubai’s primary aviation gateways is expected to disrupt global travel and cargo flows, given the emirate’s role as a major transit hub connecting Europe, Asia and Africa. Airlines are likely to reroute or cancel multiple services, while aviation authorities in neighbouring countries continue to monitor the evolving threat environment.

The suspension underscores the widening impact of the regional crisis beyond immediate conflict zones. Officials have not indicated when operations might resume, saying the situation will be reviewed based on security assessments and developments in the region.
