DMK's Stalin Claims Vijay's TVK Government May Not Survive Three Months
Stalin questioned TVK's ability to sustain a government in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin has questioned the durability of a government led by actor-turned-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), stating that such an administration may not last even three months if it were to come to power. The remarks come amid intensifying political exchanges between the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the relatively new political outfit ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
Stalin's comments reflect the DMK's continuing criticism of TVK's organisational capabilities and political preparedness. The chief minister has previously argued that the party's growing popularity is driven largely by social media engagement rather than a robust grassroots network capable of sustaining governance and political mobilisation across Tamil Nadu.
According to Stalin, TVK's rise has been fuelled significantly by platforms such as Instagram and other digital channels, which have helped the party connect with younger voters and Vijay's extensive fan base. However, he has maintained that electoral success and effective administration require a strong organisational structure, experienced leadership, and a widespread cadre network, areas where he believes TVK remains untested.

Vijay formally entered active politics with the launch of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, positioning the party as an alternative to the state's established political forces. Since its formation, TVK has attracted considerable public attention and generated discussion about its potential impact on Tamil Nadu's political landscape, particularly among younger voters and first-time participants in the electoral process.
The DMK, which currently leads the state government, has repeatedly highlighted its long-standing political organisation and governance experience while responding to the challenge posed by emerging parties. Stalin's latest remarks appear aimed at reinforcing the argument that political popularity alone may not translate into stable governance or administrative effectiveness.
The exchange underscores the growing competition within Tamil Nadu politics as established parties and new entrants seek to shape public opinion ahead of future elections. While TVK continues to expand its political presence and organisational reach, the debate over its readiness to govern remains a key point of contention between Vijay's party and its political rivals.
