Delhi Budget 2026 boosts education with laptops, bicycles, entrepreneurship scheme and new Sainik School.
Rekha Gupta on Tuesday presented the Delhi Budget 2026 in the Assembly, outlining a series of initiatives focused on youth empowerment, education, and skill development. The budget for the 2026–27 financial year places particular emphasis on supporting students and encouraging entrepreneurship among young people.
Among the key announcements, the government introduced measures to improve access to education, including a transport scheme for schoolchildren. Additionally, approximately 1.3 lakh girls studying in Class 9 and above in government schools will be provided bicycles, with an allocation of ₹90 crore for the initiative. The move is aimed at improving school attendance and ensuring safer, more reliable commuting options for students.
The budget also highlights a new scheme designed to promote youth entrepreneurship, encouraging young individuals to become job creators rather than job seekers. As part of broader educational reforms, the government announced the establishment of an Integrated Education Hub in Narela, intended to serve as a comprehensive center for learning and skill development.

In a bid to nurture talent, ₹10 crore has been allocated for talent hunt programmes targeting young students across the city. A significant announcement includes the establishment of a Sainik School in Delhi, marking the first such institution in the national capital and aimed at preparing students for careers in the armed forces.
The government further proposed regulatory measures for early childhood education, stating that a new policy will be introduced to oversee play schools across the city. To boost academic performance, students achieving merit in Class 10 examinations will be provided free laptops, while ₹150 crore has been set aside for the development of smart classrooms in schools.
In addition to education-focused initiatives, the budget allocates ₹50 crore to strengthen sports infrastructure, including the development of sports hostels and playgrounds. The measures collectively reflect the government’s broader strategy to enhance educational opportunities, foster talent, and support holistic development among Delhi’s youth.
