Congress Flags Karni Sena Video Threat to Rahul Gandhi and 25 MPs, Calls RSS-BJP 'Godse Factory'
Congress dubs RSS-BJP a 'Godse factory' after Karni Sena video threatens Rahul Gandhi and 25 MPs.
The Congress party on Thursday condemned what it described as a “Godse factory” atmosphere after reports emerged that a Karni Sena-affiliated individual issued death threats to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and 25 party MPs. Party leaders accused the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of fostering a political environment where such threats are being normalised.
The threats reportedly came via social media messages and letters to several Congress MPs, warning them against speaking out on sensitive issues. Sources indicate that law enforcement agencies have begun preliminary investigations, and security arrangements for Gandhi and other lawmakers have been stepped up. The incident follows a spate of politically charged threats and violent incidents targeting opposition leaders in recent months.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala condemned the threats, stating, “This is the culmination of years of hate rhetoric. A ‘Godse factory’ is being nurtured in our political ecosystem. Rahul Gandhi and all Congress MPs must be protected, and those responsible must face strict action.” Party leaders also criticised authorities for what they say is a failure to curb hate speech and intimidation tactics linked to fringe groups aligned with ruling political formations.

The BJP and RSS have, however, distanced themselves from the individual who issued the threats, describing the messages as unauthorised and criminal acts. “We do not endorse any such behaviour,” said a BJP spokesperson. Meanwhile, the Congress has demanded a high-level investigation and accountability for officials allegedly ignoring prior warnings about radicalised elements within fringe organisations.
Political analysts note that the episode highlights rising tensions between mainstream and fringe political actors in India, and the potential for extremist rhetoric to spill over into threats against elected representatives. They also stress the need for authorities to strengthen intelligence and protective measures for lawmakers, particularly during politically sensitive periods.
Law enforcement agencies have reportedly begun tracing the source of the messages and are reviewing digital footprints to identify the person behind the death threats. Security experts indicate that such steps are crucial to prevent escalation and ensure the safety of public figures while maintaining the democratic process.
