Congress Demands Parliamentary Debate After China Claims Support To Pakistan In Operation Sindoor

Congress demands Parliament discussion after China claims technical support to Pakistan in Operation Sindoor.

The opposition Indian National Congress on Saturday sought a parliamentary discussion after China reportedly acknowledged providing technical assistance to Pakistan during “Operation Sindoor,” a four-day military conflict last year. The development has triggered a political controversy in India, with the opposition questioning the government’s foreign policy and security posture.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the disclosure reinforces concerns over China’s role in regional security dynamics. In a post on social media platform X, he alleged that the government has been following what he described as a “4C policy” of “Continuing Calibrated Capitulation to China,” and demanded answers on India’s strategic approach toward Beijing.

Ramesh raised multiple questions, including why restrictions on Chinese investment and trade were being relaxed and why India was increasing its industrial dependence on China. He also questioned the government’s diplomatic handling of relations with Beijing, referring to past disengagement issues in eastern Ladakh and alleging that India had lost traditional patrolling and grazing rights in several areas along the Line of Actual Control.

The Congress leader further referred to earlier public remarks by senior military officials, including Lt. Gen. Rahul Singh, who had highlighted China’s alleged role during the conflict. He asked why the government had not responded strongly to what he termed a “hostile action” by China during the conflict period and why there had been no strong diplomatic protest following the reported assistance provided to Pakistan.

The controversy follows reports that Chinese state media acknowledged technical support provided to Pakistan during the conflict. According to those reports, an engineer from the Aviation Industry Corporation of China reportedly confirmed involvement in assisting Pakistan’s air force operations during the engagement. Pakistan operates Chinese-made J-10CE fighter jets, which are produced by subsidiaries of the same state-owned defence conglomerate.

The Congress party has demanded that the issue be debated in Parliament, arguing that it raises serious questions about national security, foreign policy alignment, and India’s strategic preparedness in dealing with coordinated regional military cooperation between China and Pakistan. The government has not yet issued a formal response to the latest allegations raised by the opposition.
